Wardrobe Malfunction! A week prior to the Superbowl halftime show, MTV declared on it's website that "Janet Jackson's Super Bowl show promises shocking moments." Since the only shocking aspect of the show was Janet Jackson's so-called "costume reveal," we could conclude that MTV staged the situation. After the media backlash, MTV issued a number of quotes blasting Jackson, and denying prior knowledge of the incident. From a statement issued by MTV: "Unrehearsed, unplanned,

completely unintentional and was inconsistent with assurances we had about the content of the performance. MTV regrets this incident occurred, and we apologize to anyone who was offended by it." From Tom Freston, the chairman and CEO of MTV Networks, at a panel discussion with other network executives: "We were really ripped off. We were punk'd by Janet Jackson." Sure you were guys. Admit, you are shitheads, and it IS your fault.

Origin of the Marty Awards

The Marty award is a special award given to those people that love to pass the buck, or play cute that they are so innocent, but everyone knows its their fault. We have words for them: egoist, narcissist, unaccountable, wimp, asshole. The awards stemmed from a conversation between Marty G and our editor-in-chief. Evidently, someone had accused the editor of shirking his job, and before he had a chance to deny it, Marty gave him some sound advice: "Admit it,
you are a shithead and it's all your fault." Immediately our editor felt a lot better, and started to admit it. Even when it wasn't his fault (on those rare occasions). We all felt a lot more people should take this stance, and in many cases, just admit that they are at fault. The award will be given at irregular times, whenever we feel there is a justification for it, and when we receive nominees. Look at the sidebar and our readers can even send in nominees!
